About Riverway Alternative Education
Our Riverway Provision is based on Riverway Industrial Park; it is set back from the road with a garden to the rear.
Many of our students have chosen not to attend traditional educational settings for various reasons. We have therefore designed the site to feel welcoming and inspire attendance, allowing students to drop in and make use of the varied facilities, whist deliberately not feeling like a school.
We have a dedicated team of qualified teachers, skilled in working with students who have a range of needs. The team has specific expertise in Mathematics, English, Humanities, Outdoor Education, Primary Education and PSHE.

Our Approach
We believe that outdoor learning and using alternative activities supports many of the children we work with to successfully engage in their education programmes. Using the natural environment around us, we encourage and challenge our students, whilst also building their enthusiasm to attend, learn and explore concepts such as risk, relationships and resilience.
At Riverway, we see each student as an individual; every programme is individualised to provide the educational, social and emotional support needed. Programmes are built and adapted as students develop, ensuring that they meet their changing needs and continue to experience positive outcomes and experiences.
Targets, participation and engagement are monitored daily, which includes recording both positive and negative learning outcomes, as well as attendance and engagement. This allows our team to evidence and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and specific interventions and adjust accordingly.
