Education Beyond the Classroom
Our education provision helps students thrive outside traditional schools.
Alternative Learning Pathways
We provide an ‘Alternative Education’ service, which specialises in supporting students with specific educational needs to access a long-term whole-school curriculum part-time as part of an EOTAS package. This educational provision is for young people who the Local Authority have judged would be better suited by an individualised educational package that is more adaptable to their needs than a full-time placement could provide.
We support students between year 2 and 13, they can attend Riverway for up to 15 hours per week. The Local Education Authority remains directly responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of the education delivered.
All students have elements of the core subjects of Maths, English, PSHE, Outdoor Education, and Food Technology incorporated into their timetable, either as explicitly timetabled lessons or as embedded content within other topic-based engagement activities. Our educational programmes aim to provide a broad range of educational content, based on a thorough needs analysis. The delivery of educational programmes depends on student needs and may be offered in small groups or in one-to-one sessions.
