Referrals
The referral of a student to NFAP will normally be handled by the Local Authority responsible for your child. Professionals, schools, parents and carers are all welcome to make informal enquiries to the school. However, NFAP works in partnership with the Local Authorities, and it is they who will ultimately handle the referral.
NFAP caters for young people who have:
- Complex Specific Educational Needs
- A need for an individualised Educational setting specific to their Neurodiversity
- Educational Phobias
- Are between educational placements and require a high-quality intermediary placement

Outdoor Learning
The placement of all students at the school will have been authorised by the Local Authority responsible for the student. Details of the Admissions Process are included in the school’s Referrals and Admission Policy (available from the Head Teacher upon request).

Admissions Criteria
Admissions Criteria for NFAP
The school accepts students whose needs cannot be met in a mainstream school. The students will normally meet one of the following criteria:
- Have an EHCP in which NFAP is named as the student’s school
- Have agreement from the Local Authority responsible for the student that they will attend NFAP
- Have agreement from a mainstream school for a part-time placement to support reintegration back into that school.
Other considerations:
- The suitability of NFAP for the young person (they must have needs that can be met within the expected available provision and staffing levels)
- The wishes of the parent or carer
- The nature of their needs and previous educational experiences
- The recommendations of the referring body
Before admission, we will arrange to meet new students and also provide an opportunity for them and their parents or carers to visit NFAP. This is a key part of the admission process as it allows the student to meet staff and see the setting for themselves.
NFAP admits students aged 5 to 12in the following year groups:
Key Stage 2 and 3: Year 1 to Year 7
Refusal of Admissions
The Head Teacher reserves the right to refuse admission in the following cases:
The school is fully subscribed, and admitting further students would be incompatible with providing efficient education or utilising resources effectively.
Where the admission of a student would compromise the Health and Safety of students and/or staff within the school, or would seriously compromise or disrupt the education of students already within the school
